Since beginning at Hogwarts, Severus Snape has been considered by most to be highly unpleasant and sarcastic. He has a tendency to hold grudges and can be extremely spiteful toward those whom he dislikes; this part of him comes out primarily once he becomes a professor. Though Snape's disdain for the Marauders, particularly Potter and Black, can be understood due to the history they share, he dislikes Gryffindor students in general, considering them to be arrogant and attention-seeking, with no regard for school rules (or, to use his own words, "brawny rather than brainy"). Snape is intensely private and views emotional display as a sign of weakness. As an already accomplished Occlumens, he is adept at concealing his thoughts and feelings, which allows him to maintain a cold, distant demeanor unless the matter is close to his heart; for example, Lily Evans.
Much of Severus Snape’s personality stems from his dark parental background, his love for Lily Evans, and his consequent hatred for James Potter. In fact, he was so blinded by his attraction to the dark arts and magic that he convinced himself that Lily would find him impressive if he entered service to the Dark Lord. Despite his cold and seemingly heartless personality, Snape is incredibly insecure and emotionally vulnerable because of his terrible childhood. He was searching for something that would make him important, and being a part of Voldemort’s army seemed like it would accomplish that.

history;;
Snape was born to Eileen Prince, a witch, and Tobias Snape, a Muggle, making him a half-blood. Snape spent his early childhood living with his parents in a small house in Spinner's End. Snape's family was poor and he as a child he wore ill-fitting and mismatched clothing. Snape was neglected and his parents often fought with one another. Snape was very eager to leave his home to go to Hogwarts, especially once he found out that Lily was to attend.
Severus Snape has been a brilliant wizard since his childhood years. The notes and scribbles in his Potions textbook show that he made time between and perhaps during classes to invent curses, charms, and even corrections on existing potions, while simultaneously learning the required textbook lessons. These innovations (and his blood status) caused him to nickname himself The Half-Blood Prince, and he left his Potions textbook in Horace Slughorn’s classroom, unaware that he would soon be back teaching in the same dungeon or that the book would fall into the hands of the son of his only love and greatest enemy, Lily Evans and James Potter.
Snape excelled at the Dark Arts and Potions in particular. His group of companions included many future Death Eaters, like Lucius Malfoy, Evan Rosier, and even Bellatrix Lestrange. The Marauders were constantly at war with Snape throughout their school years and, with Sirius, years afterwards. Snape's memories, recorded in the Pensieve, suggest that he was an introverted student, whereas James was cocky, popular, and athletic. Immediately upon meeting him, Potter disliked Snape for expressing a desire to be in Slytherin. Potter's crush on Lily and Severus' close friendship and unrequited love for her also heightened the tension between the two.
I'LL NEVER HEAR A WORD YOU SAY
roleplay sample;
The sand on the beach was very soft and thick and, though missing the warmth that usually accompanies it, comfortable. On a cloudy, albeit warm day, restless Anjuli could think of nothing she would enjoy more than a little solitary excursion to the beach. When she scooped up a handful of sand, it streamed between her fingers. When tossed in the air, the sand flew away, then was caught by the wind and flung back to where Anjuli sat.
Nearer to the water, the sand changes. It became a long mirror of wet sand, streaked with black. The edges of the waves, the white foam, come bubbling up over the sand.
And then there is the ocean, a mass of rippling grey and green and purple, often sequined with gold by the sun – but not today. A wave breaks, and riding the top of that wave is a crown of frothing foam. The wave crashes onto the shore and water rushes up over the ground, clear enough that the soft swirling sand is visible underneath, and a million tiny bubbles froth and hiss and dance on top of the water. Then the water retreats back to the ocean, from whence it came, leaving the sand to settle slightly, subtly different from before. And then the beginning of another huge wave starts to swell up again, far, far, out at sea. Some lethargic tides rolled towards the shoreline, their peaks becoming shorter and shorter until it seemed they would never reach the shore.
Anjuli’s quiet musings were interrupted by the distant rumblings of thunder. She didn’t mind; in fact, she welcomed it. In her opinion, storms were best viewed over the ocean. She stared out over the green-grey water at the horizon. She excitedly awaited the thunder and lightning, drawing her knees to her chest in anticipation. She sat there for some time, watching the approaching storm, the waves and the gulls.
Then the unmistakable jagged noise of the sky breaking in two arrived, and the sound fell out from the crack and came toward the beach. The sky rumbled and quivered, threatening to fall down from its lofty position. Electricity cut the sweet air and suddenly the beach is was empty, and Anjuli was alone. Seagulls hung out of the sky, making noises like confused children. The rain began, heavy, spitting in her eyes and warming her skin. The steaming smell is all around and Anjuli raises her palms up to catch the droplets. All she can think about is how far they've fallen as they drench her.
